Hi guys,

I’m a theatre artist based in Portland, Oregon where I work as Artistic Director for Corrib Theatre, the only Irish theatre company on America’s West Coast. I recently completed an MFA in Theatre Directing at The Lir Academy, Trinity College Dublin, where I was mentored by Irish theatre director Annabelle Comyn. For my final project, I directed Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal with a stellar cast and design team. I also served as assistant director on Rosaleen McDonagh’s Walls and Windows at The Abbey Theatre (directed by Jason Byrne) and Thornton Wilder’s Our Town at The Lir (directed by Wayne Jordan).

I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio where I participated in youth theatre with Muse Machine, Dayton Playhouse, and Town Hall Theatre. I began my professional career as a resident actor at The Rogue Theatre in Tucson, Arizona. Some of my favorite roles there were Sonya in Uncle Vanya, Harper Pitt in Angels in America, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Elvira in Blithe Spirit, and Maureen in The Beauty Queen of Leenane. I also co-adapted and assistant directed The Rogue’s World Premiere staging of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. My time at The Rogue left me with lasting interests in ensemble work, literary adaptation, comedy and clown, and live musical scoring and foley.

My directing career began at The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre where I directed Brian Friel’s Lovers, Finegan Kruckemeyer’s This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing, and my own original adaptation of Antoine de Sainte-Exupery’s The Little Prince. All three productions were nominated for a bunch of Arizona Daily Star Mac awards, including Best Director. Just sayin’.

I am a resident artist at Common Crow Theatre, a Dublin-based theatre collective I co-founded with my friends and colleagues Franziska Detrez and Eftychia Spyridaki. I directed our original production Krabat in partnership with SoFFt Productions.

In addition to my MFA, I hold a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Arizona, and a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College.

The theatre I aim to make…

[a draft]

is for people, not just theatre people

belongs to everyone who helps make it, including the audience

responds productively to emotional, political, or spiritual issues of its community

is accountable for its repercussions

adheres to respectful and humane production and performance practices

…perennially revises and progresses its commitment to antiracism

embraces the live performance format and its unique set of advantages and challenges

provokes critical thinking, inquiry, and wonder

honors the dramatic vision of the playwright

encourages audiences to answer questions for themselves

is made with joy
